Overview:

NYC stealth mode startup is seeking a key early engineering hire. The opportunity is to create true innovation at the nexus of scientific research, gaming and personal well-being.

We're looking for an experienced, creative software developer to help us build a sophisticated and fun consumer application. You bring deep polyglot coding expertise and ability to quickly learn and master new technologies. You’re a pragmatic perfectionist with an eye for aesthetics in UX and in code. You want a strong voice in technical architecture and product direction. Our stack is shaping up to be Python, Flask, jQuery, backbone.js, Postgres, but as an early team member you will play a key role in technology decisions.

Responsibilities:
Help architect a compelling web experience that melds real-world and online interactions
Work with our CTO and world-class game designer to merge game concepts with HTML5 UX.
Create rapid prototypes
Game development experience is a plus, enthusiasm for gaming also very nice-to-have.

Qualifications:
Engineering experience, much of it in startups coding web scale applications with any of Java, Scala, Python, Ruby or some combination.
Recent experience with Python and its web framework exosystem, particularly Flask.
Comfort with distributed architectures, HA systems, async programming, and big data.
Passion for building new technologies in a dynamic startup environment on a lean team
Track record of building unit tests and full stack tests as a matter of habit and necessity
Experience with Ajax, Pjax, HTML5/CSS3, Javascript frameworks like backbone.js and JQuery
Git experience.
Demonstrable experience in consumer web space, bonus points for anything gaming-related
